In this project I am modding my living space with sensors, noises and interactive systems in an act of auto-surveillance. Augmenting my home appliances with cameras, sensors and speakers, I invite the viewer to witness parts of my (modded) daily rituals online, through the perspective and sensibility of these house objects.
Vincent Isabel is a multidisciplinary artist based in Québec, on the Nionwentsïo territories. His practice touches on sensible technologies, artisanal crafts, sound and performance. Points of his interests are the porous zones separating the living and non-living beings, as well as the making of instruments that transforms gestures, memories, and environments in sonic expressions. His approach is anchored into a material research where he plays with the collaboration between ancient and new crafting methods. The collection, assembly and transformation of materials is done in the attempt of linking living and non-living forms on the same horizontal material plane, doing so through their shared sonic potential. His performance practice comes second and takes place when the object and body intertwine. This process allows them to intimately explore the reactions of their body to other objects as an instrument and bodily extension.
