title Ghorboonit (Sacrifice)

Ghorboonit Beram is a Persian term of endearment that roughly translates to "I would die for you".

In Ghorboonit (Sacrifice), arya explores generational stories and experiences as a mixed Iranian Canadian and Third Culture Kid from the Persian Gulf.

A webcam is trained on a ceremonial bowl, in which spices are thrown, mixed and swirled. The webcam footage is fed into Unreal Engine in real-time. Shaders read render targets from the webcam which are then sent to particle systems. The particles sample the video texture and generate points in which 3D fluid gasses spawn. As the spices swirl, so do the digital flames and smoke. Stories recited and memories told, with the past, present and future in attendance.
